I am ready to get out of this wet cube and into a dry martini.
Just had a good review and more RAM in the computer at work. I am rock'n the cube today!
The word of the day is "durable".

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

man, there is a movie coming out called Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstien Girl. Thus, life is good.
What's a good way to shake your brains up?
The word of the day is "infantile". Use it in a sentence.
I am doing my best zombie impression.

Saturday, April 18, 2009

Alright, here's the plan for the day, breakfast, Clown Verses Monkey, take kids out to play (too much tv rots your brainz), clean a bit, homework(illustratize something), get ready for video project (just a wedding, nothing with latex stab wounds or karo sauce/ being into this stuff sounds pervey) and then home free, tomorrow Lake Oconee to record the love. Easy-breezy. Saw the best flick last night! Goke: Bodysnatcher from Space. GREAT MOVIE! Leave it to the Japanesse to deliever prime grade A weird.

Friday, April 17, 2009

I'd rather be messing around on illustrator. ACCEPT THE MOMENT! Blah blah.

Thursday, April 16, 2009

A lady in my class died of a heart attack. Her name was Marylin and she was a retiree who enjoyed painting. She wanted to go into business for herself, using the internet to sell her art. It is shocking and weird.
OH! Telephobia!
What is the fear of talking on the phone? Telecomunicatia?

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

I am really enjoying the obsessive insanity that is Adobe Illustrator. OCD, eat and die!

BUBBL.US is alright if you are just feeling the twitch and no Freemind around.
Ready to go home, pop some corn, watch a flick with a midget.
Test
Raining, gloomy. Head rush. WWF Monday Night Raw tickets at work, no way to make it. DURN!
Spreadsheets, instant coffee, legal pads, freemind, electric time cards, we exsist only to support the Chinese Restaurant industry.
Researching passports, making an appointment, working til 6, Illustrator tonight, eggs in the morning, snapping a picture, driving to Birmingham, AL and Easter feasting.
Go out, try something new, mess it up royally, learn something, in twenty years you'll be called a genius, a guru, a visionary. Heros are just screw ups someone wrote a book about.

Wednesday, April 08, 2009

So 300 million english speaking people using the internet, all you need is 1/100 to buy your "whadevah" for 9 bucks and you will be doing alright. Stop talking brain. Alright.

A Zombeaker, Richard Servello, who did some digital effects on the beak, will have some badassery on display in Drag Me to Hell, the next Sam "freak'n" Raimi flick!!!
Got an email about York taking Zombeak to Cannes. They asked me if I wanted a badge to get in. Yeah, and who'll fill out all these TP reports!?! I just hope the Germans like it.

life update

Here is a ramble of words that can be ignored, just trying to finish up the day and update the blog in one swift sweep. Tonight Im going to actually associate with some other humans and if you know me, you know that it is an alien thing that I do. Really, Ive been on the clock for the last three years so talking to someone just on a hi how are ya basis hasnt lost its novelty. Im kind of like, hey, not bad, I guess this is what normal people do all the time. Steph is the same way, locked in a house for days on end with out any adult conversation can make you go batty. The world becomes about Dora the Explora and making mac and cheese. It feels that the babies are getting a little bit older so we are not on constant freak out mode anymore, and with me working less hours I am becoming reacquainted with these strange people I live with.

Its not worth the missed time. To live so out of balance, the days pass like a blur, a fog, and you are wandering though them, just making the next punch in. I suppose thats what life is for a lot of people. I can do it when I see where its going, but I have to be able to see the end point. Something had to change, and it has, and my mind is in a much better place because of it.

Watchman opening credits

Awesome opening credit sequence, I am a sucker for these.

This small screen doesn't do it justice.
The film is kinda like Forest Gump with super heroes.

WATCHMAN

Okay, so I ran out of time and could only get fifty percent through
the comic, so understand that this opinion is of someone who has not
read and fetishized over every panel of this graphic novel for the
last 25 year.

Is usual, Spider Man was my drug of choice and my Alan Moore worship
comes from his run on Swamp Thing. I caught that in the initial run
and it messed me up for years, I may still maybe recovering from fly
infested demon man.

But in a rush to read Watchman to be able to really immerse in the
geek movie event of the moment (TR2N, you're next), I have been blown
away by how damn good it is and how relevant it is to the world we
live in today(the more something changes...) and how much it has been
imitated and ripped off over the years by less ambitious projects
(though The Incredibles kicks my ass all the way home and makes me
sleep in the gore).

Last night, sitting in the theater with Steph, our first Friday night
opening movie night in what might be three years, and watching the
geeks pile in for the ride, and seeing some fellow geeks I knew from
Starbucks (one was actually wearing an Elf Quest t-shirt) and just the
over all giddiness of the room, people knowing that this movie was
made for them, it was something they had been waiting for for years,
even though I'm not a veteran Watchman cultist, I could appreciate the
all around love that was in the room. The pre movie vibe is really
important and on opening night, that is where it really can be
something rock concert like. Peace love and spandex.

Movie cranks up and after some really cool trailers, (even Observe and
Report, while in no way will be a good movie made for an awesome 2
minute trailer, what's with mall cop movies now, I know a mall cop, he
sits at Starbucks and draws insane diagrams on a notebook and reads
The Art of War).

So immediately it is visually bold and intense and perfect. The colors
and the sets and the design are so damn pretty, and with Zach Snyder,
who you can't even hate because he made the best possible Dawn of the
Dead remake one could hope for, you under stand that you are sitting
with someone who is in love with the material and wants to do it
justice. Whole segments are recreated with love and precision here,
and man, I dug it, and man if you are one of the 25 year patient fans
in waiting, I could hear the love puddles being gushed in the theater.
It's just so reverent and precise and licking all over the comic like
an overzealous puppy.

How could any of that be bad. It's probably not. But the book is
dense. A lot of characters, a lot of thought, a lot of twists and
personal entanglements that in book form you sit and think and ponder
and wonder about and the comic is... well, a comic. Though it seems
like they would be totally interchangeable, comics make every moment,
every panel is iconic. The frozen image gives your eye time to enter
and examine and draw from it. You get weight out of the compositions
and colors and what happens in between panels. You choose the pace.
You absorb it differently. They can get away with that kind of thing.

A movie you are on the clock. Tick tock, tell me a story. And if you
have eight intense personalities of equal importance, and they are
competing with sets, music, costumes, effects, performance, and all
THAT! It can get crowded in the old brain pan.

So the movie is crowded. I can't tell you this is bad when I complain
about many flicks not having enough ideas to fill 15 minutes (thus the
trailer is the whole experience really), but you know, maybe less time
on the love story, may be more Rorshach badassery and Manhattan
disconnect, maybe a big cynical pissing on the planet isn't always
what you are in the mood for. Maybe I just want more from the book
that I responded to, less of what I didn't. Can't blame a guy for
that.

I don't know how you would make a better adaptation of Watchman. I'll
finish the book and weigh in on that. I love a lot of this movie, but
like the book it may take some time to let it soak in. It is big, and
it feels big and looks big and that is nice to see a movie try to be
cinematic, instead of another blown up TV movie.

I think time will be kind, and as a counterpart to the book it is
great, like Lord of the Rings, they make a nice set, but if you are
looking for a "fun" movie where you will walk out in love with the
planet, this wasn't that movie for me. If you want to hang out with
some cynical asshole reminding you of how messed up our world is, of
how our idolatry of public figures is hollow and misguided, of how the
evils of the world emanates from competition for fossil fuels (that
can't be in the book), hey GO CRAZY and you'll sop this up with a
biscuit.

And you know after 9/11, we all only liked each other for a few
minutes before getting on each others nerves again. Business as usual.

buds

picassa to facebook

There is a lot of hot and crazy things going on in the world

I am standing on the brink

7:10 AM 3/4/2009

Do somthing.

Going to think organized. Yesterday, before thinking, before talking, before responding, I thought of the word organize, and the swirl in my brain was silence.

It was like changing a channel.

This morning writing is like self hypnosis, I can believe anything if i write it early enough.

These sessions have been very good for me doctor. They've taken my mind out of the box.

A wet, bone bowl with serrated cap.

I am going to be a self sustaining filmmaker one day. On my terms, producing my own stuff, and paying my bills and saving some away from the films I make. I won't have to have a day job. I will be able to live comfortably, not lavishly, but money will not be a constant stress or concern.

The films I produce will be from ideas I write, or from others that I can see giving myself over to fully. Things I don't mind living inside for prolongued periods of time.

All that I do now is a step to get me closer to that goal.

THe path I am on is my own and will not resemble the path others have taken. A well worn path is not yours.

At 7am, I believe it.

The goal is to believe it all day long.

I'm drinking coffee brewed yesterday, poured over ice, in my rediculously enourmous mug. I would murder someone for a descent doubleshot of espresso.

WATCHMEN is incredible thus far. My favorite character is Dr. Manhattan. Indifferent and cold. Hanging out on Mars. Makes more sense then Clark "up with people" Kent. Everyone rips off Mario Bava, and everyone rips off Watchmen.

Incredibles, Dark Knight, Mystery Men - just off the top of my head. Alan Moore is a hell of a writer. And the art is nice 80's style, non-photoshoped and perfect. Now comic art can veer toward the overproduced and confussing. Technically sophisticated and tricked out, but incapable of telling a story. Nice alone, ugly taken in all together. Not the old stuff.

Once at Dragon Con I talked to an old man who was at the artist table who had drawn comics back in the 50's for smaller companies, and this was his view. His stuff was primative, and you couldn't get a job these days with his style, but it looked like a comic book, it flowed, and it wasn't like every illustration was a poster design for the side of someones van. It's called difussion. You put one million ideas on a page, it becomes an impressive mush. A glorious shit.

I have this problem myself, know when to edit. Tide comes in, tide comes out.

Today I have class, and photoshop is a cult that consumes you. I worked about 90 minutes last night on tweaking my head removal, and yes, you still have to get up in the morning and go to work, no matter how many limbs you remove. But I have 2 chapters to read this weekend and a project, should be fun, I want to stay up and get a chunk done tonight after class.

NOT going to think about all there is to do. ORGANIZE!!!

(poof)

Ahh, that's better.

Of coarse I can only speak of this as an expert opinion of someone who has never done it.

spaztek

there is this guy who walks with a woody allen lope who ran manipulate reality by breaking pieces off him self and leaving them like a bomb, these chunks of self grow in to people that give the situation exactly what it needs, no matter what it is. Man granades. These are completely self sustaining parts, and after they are done doing what needs to be done they go out to a field and shoot themselves in the head.

this is a new technology.

this guy thinks he has life figured out and can use his buds to get out of any situation.

that is who he is.

what happens is that one of his buds springs another bud and he is told that it is now his turn to take the bullet. He was a bud himself once upon a time, and now it is time to let the manifestation take over.

Life becomes nessesary to produce more and more buds until he is obsolete.

in the end he has to stop specializing and become an antique, give the world over to his buds, sidelined.

he stops being a player and becomes a shadow.

when he tries to stop the buds, they overwhelm him like a hydra.

WE COME FROM DUST

The buds turn on him and he doesn't have the equipment to fight

he no longer can make them strong enough, his buds are slaughtered by the new gen buds

he is eventually forced into submission

he wont eat the bullet

Sees the next wave of buds being mistreated.

observations from a highly organized mind

March 3rd, 2008

I was made fun of last night in class for being so disorganized, so thus, I am going to make it my goal to get some of this organization stuff into my life and not let the chaos be a constant source of drama.

Maybe the organization will make the chaos more effective.

This will be ingrained. Organize as I go. Data disks are my friends.

Well stay low key about it, laid back, chill about it. Dont exhaust myself on the prospect.

Woohoo! I am not afraid to party. Not one data bit.

Im just like you!

-You should see a doctor.

I am pretending to be a robot and it is making this job very easy.

You can actually be an asshole in the name of professionalism!

Ba ba ba!

Just saw a name, John Core, ha!

Kirk wont show you his pain because he NEEDS his pain!

Ill be seeing you when you get there.

Ill see you, when you get there, if you ever get there, see you when you get there.

Late 80's Horror

SO tonight I am thinking about late 80's horror and where the big guys
where at that period of time. A lot of them had already made their
little gritty films, and then made something that gave them some sort
of recognition, made them into the masters of horror that we consider
them to be.

So in the late 80's and early 90's, we had Carpenter with Prince of
Darkness and Thay Live, Craven with Shocker, Serpant and the Rainbow,
and People under the Stairs, Romero with Monkey Shines, Raimi with
Darkman, and Cronenberg with Dead Ringers. I used to feel like these
were minor films, beloved but not the kind of thing to keep you up all
night.

But now, with Shocker on TV right now, and me just reflecting in
general, these movies are great in that they finally allowed these
guys to work on descent budgets and not have to struggle just to get
something resembling a film together. This is them finally able cash
in on a lifetime of struggle and make a nice little movie.

I used to hate Shocker, but it is actually one fun little movie. And
that is the way a lot of this late 80's stuff is, they don't blow you
away, but they are like fun little comfort food horror films.
Carpenter will have his zeneth with The Thing, Craven with Elm Street,
Romero with the zombie movies, Raimi with Evil Dead 2, Cronenburg with
Videodrome. This is their enjoying success phase. More creative
freedom. More money. More professional toys to play with. Some had
made big movies by this point, and had been handled poorly by the
suites, and this was their return to a middle area, not big budgets,
but adequate, and small enough for them to do what they wanted with
out studio interference. Sound like the best possible conditions, but
the results are just cool, not COO HOO HOO OOL!

These guys were making movies, getting covered in Fango, and being
worshiped by the legion of horror nuts. Any director will have "the
one". That one movie where they knocked it out of the park. So what if
the rest are just base hits. They are the dependable all stars, where
even when they have a bad day, it is still interesting and
entertaining.

Not deep, just typing stuff out.
SD

PS - Tobe Hooper, after the beauty of TCM2 and Lifeforce, I can
forgive Spontanious Combustion. Who the hell can even talk after
watching those two. And SponCom does have Smoldering Douriff, and
someone should make that their band name.

Ya know, just kind of over it right now.

Yeah, thats right, ready to get the hezzow on and make something happen.

Cameron is vomiting all over the place tonight, got a call from a haggered Steph about it.

Sarah has gotten into this video game that makes her pissed and violent. Something called Grand Theft Auto. Not really, some Cinderella thing.

hi planet

Photoshop continues to amaze and is giving me all sorts of insight on how to product CLOWN VERSES MONKEY.

SHATTER MONKEY has a great deal complete but still needs some fleshing out, I need to sit and do it, throw some time at it. Sit and nurse it.

Time or Money, you can use one or the other, power in both.

Went to see TAKEN over the weekend with Stephanator. Big disappointment considering all the raves I heard at work and on the street.  Neesons best scene is him telling the bad guys on the phone what hes going to do to them and blah blah, its in the trailer. He phones in the rest of his performance as well (har har clever! almost). The ending is a laugh riot, not believable at all.

I think my movie enjoyment gland is defective.

All is good in hood

stuff and stuff stuff

Moments before the weekend, and tonight homework instead of Starbucks, and that is alright!

Ill stop by to pick up the last round of tips, see how that went, see how everyone is dealing with life, pick up a large Iced Americano, get my wire.

Thoughts on Crank 2.

The trailer may have changed my mind. I thought the first one was perfect in its moronic overdrive attitude, it thought it was cooler then it was, but had a go for broke, screw it, lets goof off and make a movie quality. The ending though was my favorite thing in the world, and to ruin that ending with a tacked on sequel, BAD BAD BAD.

Trailer looks good though. Absolutely retarded. And when they make a direct to video part 3 with Oliver Grunner, I will plunk down 9.99 for the trilogy box set.

Friday 13 reboot.

Man in hockey mask is always good. And it aint like Sean Cunningham wont get paid. If hes happy then Im happy. The choice is between corporate glossy hockey mask, or no hockey mask at all. Jason Vs Freddy ruled, so Im pretty indiscriminate when it comes to F13. If I can survive part 8, I can survive this.

Trailers on my mind.

This weekend Im going to hide out and write while steph is going out to get a message, the kids are going to a friends, then a movie and some hanging around. Three chaps of homework due on Monday. But that is all fun. Will be posting all sorts of goofy art on this blog as I learn how to work this stuff.

Windows Live™: Keep your life in sync. See how it works.

My Own Private Darkon

So maybe pummeling your problems into submission is not the best way to live.

Computers are the silent killer.

The faceless, nameless enemy that destroys us just because they exist.

Computers are not malicious; they just sit there and bring out our DEEEEEMONS!!!!!

I am over it, I will henceforth not give a rats.

I am all about the easydoesit or not at all.

It is not worth the high blood pressure and years off my life and time away from enjoying the things around me.

THUS! Darkon.

Darkon will now be used as anything that consumes you, alienates you, obsesses you, gives your life great drama, but doesnt have any real solid meaning or significance to your quality of life, your familys, the world, no relevance at all other then being a black hole that swallows everything and only emits indifference and pain.

What I am looking forward to today:

-getting a little closer on installing CS3

-its my early day at work

-class tonight

-seeing the fam

-placing the order for a text book

-getting a little writing done at lunch

-returning the old software for a full refund.

-pretending to be dead

A real weird attitude encouraged by Christianity is to want as much of this world as the dead does. You are dead to the world. Have no concern for the petty day to day dealings, be dead to it. You have other fish to fry. Makes me wonder why there arent more Christian Goth Bands. All the religious imagery, a separateness from the world, blood drinking and what not. STIGMATRA, to be followed by pot luck in the communion hall.

I have hope that it will all be alright. There is always one more thing to try.

update on school and post starbucks!

Really quick, no time!

Getting Adobe Master Suite tonight, it has all the goodies, and then some, most excited about sound booth that with a flip of a switch can wipe out some of the sound pops left in the Zombeak soundtrack, just for my own satisfaction, also encore that can do rad dvd authoring, and all the web design programs I need, so BLAMO!

Class last night was radical, people from all walks of life, I was so hyped I took notes on their personalities, like writing out a cast of characters. When it came time to tell the class a little bit about myself, I rambled on and on, even when I told myself I wouldnt, I basically talk until people look terrified, and then I close it up abruptly, thats my g-style.

I was most excited about drinking robot machine coffee. THAT WAS NOSTALGIC!

Went into a Starbucks and they where snots. I no longer have the stink on me. I miss the stink (or I will one day).

Lead singer of the CRAMPS is dead, and really quick, no one was ever as libidinous as this guy, fathers hide your daughters! The dude was a walking talking rocking out boner. And Surfing Dead is what the world is all about. Nothing at the picture show when youre dead. Return of the Living Dead, best end credits ever because of that song, perfection on a roll. No one doing this type of thing nowadays, all we have now is fn Mudvayne!

Starbucks Countdown

This is my last week at Starbucks. It was decided that it would be crazy to do the two jobs and school so something had to go.

I've been spinning my wheels for the last three years, trying to keep the ship afloat, and I have no concept of what it is like to just chill and enjoy life. Always on the clock, and when not, trying to get one project finished and the next one started. Meanwhile kids are getting big and there is this odd woman living in the house that says I'm married to her. Hmmm... trying to remember.

So this class is going tobe 26 hours a week they warn. Intense intense intense is what they kept saying at the orientation. I've backed up all my files to reformat the harddrive, and will be picking up a software package this week to crank it up on Monday.

Saturday is last night making coffee (that I can predict).

So I pulled my first espresso shot in 99. And when I said that the other day, it freaked me out. But there you go! So I have a decade of corperate coffee behind me, and enough annoying things happened that it would make a nice play. I picture surreal interpretations of stuff that went on.

I'm looking forward to learning something where I only have to work one job, and have more time for family and chicken.

kicken it old school, as I am want to do.
