Just Up

No sleep yet, just thought I would up this.
Saw BV3D yesterday and it was neat, but I think I would have liked it more in 2D.
Depressing.
Tom Atkins was dabomb however, and that was really why I bought the ticket.

Dropped the movie off to get the QC report today. So if all goes well that may be the final nail in the coffin. I plan on promoting the flick on various sites by posting behind the scene webisodes, but that will be simple in comparison. So a five year process is finally coming to an end, an official end. It's just not over until I can walk into a store and hold a copy I did not burn myself and label with a magic marker.

School coming up, told at the orientation to expect 20 hours of homework a week. So basically should be a cool descent into madness. I'll try to post pics of my bleeding brain.

A guy I know got busted for drugs recently, and I was really rooting for him, it upsets me that he fell back into old behaviors, I've seen it all before, anyone who can stay sober I tip my hat to.

I was invited to a superbowl party today and told the couple, a cool couple that comes into starbucks, that I have kids and to get back to me in ten years. HA! I know Steph would be up for it, but you know, I'M NOT FRIENDLY!

This recluse thing I've been on for the last 33 years makes it really hard to meet new people.

Grrr.
Sam D.

thinking

Tylenol PM will give you some freaked out dreams.

Saturday night I dreamed Cameron had eaten so mush that he was a ball of fat,

We had to wedge him in his high chair

He couldn’t move his arms, like the kid in Christmas Story, and his face was a bump on top of his spherical body.

But we kept feeding him, he wouldn’t stop eating.

Then it was an annoying Starbuck dream of people piling in and being rude, just as we were closing, running into the bathrooms and not getting up from tables, and more friends, and then just giving me eat shit looks when I told them to go.

People that come to Starbucks only in the winter are snooty.

“Dear, have you seen my beige turtle neck? Oh, and my isotoner gloves. I thought we might go to Starbucks for something hot and sweet but decaf. Or better yet no coffee what so ever, what do you think dear? Starbucks for something completely not like coffee what so ever? Of coarse I’ll have to see the menu. And study the menu. And ask as many questions as my mind can scramble together, as if I was writing a novel on the subject. But first, beige turtle neck or I’m not going.”

They aren’t like the junkie regulars who speak as the fast as the words can ticker tape across their skulls. These are pensive, miserable people looking for something “normal” to do when it is cold.

update on life events

Been a while, so here it is.

My sister in law just had a baby today, by the name of Emily Rose, a name I approve of tremendously.

My Bloody Valentine 3D tomorrow. Getting a little group together for it, should be the jam diggity.

Shatter Monkey is speeding along, love the flow.

This Wed is orientation for the web design class. Can’t wait to start earning millions off amputation porn.

Protagonist is an awesome doc I just watched that takes 5 peoples lives and segments them into dramatic structure. I recommend it. Shows how just watching people talk about their lives, with no frills or gimmicks is endlessly entertaining. No BD3D, but still… pretty good.

Sarah started ballet, and she LOVES it. The pics are awesome, and she is very much the teachers pet, eager to learn.

Cameron just got the MMR shot, and that was terrifying as everywhere you look there are panicked parents connecting it with autism. I did some research, and the only evidence was one paper in 98, that was refuted due to the principal author being on the take. But being a parent isn’t rational and you still get freaked, but Cameron is one bad mama jama, and was rocking it this morning in his usual rock’n wayz.

So took Sarah to comic shop for the first time, and this guys Kick Drum jumped out at me. At six bucks, I passed, had to get Sarah a SpongeBob she was clutching, got it all on video, trying to establish some base of fangirlness so when she starts dating it will be some dweeb I can take down versus if I got her listening to AC/DC and she brings home some steriodified redneck rocker. Then I'd just have to shoot him. A 15 year old Xbox 360 fanboy I might be able make squirm.

Stuff Coming Out

MOVIES IN 09

OUT NOW

I would pay to see The Spirit with a group of friends. Frank Miller has made a big turd according to reviews, and I love a good train wreck.

01/16

My Bloody Valentine 3-D

I wasn't old enough to see Friday 13 3-D in theaters, so this will grant me my lifetime wish to see 3-D slasher action. And from the director of Dracula 2000! (i never drink... coffee)

01/23

Underworld 3-D

I hated part one (too much walking through door action) had fun with part two, and with part three we have two perks, one is Rhona, because Bea Arthur is hot and my new fav b-movie scream queen, two is Tatopoulus is directing and he was always so patient with Webster that I think he'll have a steady hand on this. I'll go and geek out like a manic hyperventalating spazz. Steph will sleep and wonder how she ever managed to procreate with me. This is pure Sci-Fi Channel geek bait.

01/30

Taken

Watch the trailer, Neesen's little speech on the phone, HOORAY! D-13 is da bomb, and Besson is producing, so look for confussing feminist messages. I'm a bitch, I'm mother, I'm a child, I'm a lover.

2/06

Coraline

Selick is cool, stop motion is cool, MonkeyBone, those damn actors and their damn self moving bodies! What would Junkman's Daughter be if not for Jack Skelington?

2/13

Friday 13 remake

Don't like the director, producer, trend, cast, blah blah.

Man in hockey mask. Pull my string and I dance.

It will at least answer the question, "What if Jason showed up in a Timex commercial?"

ALSO this Weekend

The International

Loves me some Run Lola Run. So there you go.

3/6

Watchman

I'm borrowing the book so I can go first screening and steep in pure fangastic eupphoria.

3/20

Knowing

Proyas is cancelled out by Cage. Pass.

3/27

Monsters vs. Aliens

Should be fun. Big IMAX 3D experience. with popcorn and drinks, 50 dollars easy. Sarah will get board in 30 minutes. RENT!

APRIL

Just stay at home, NAAATH'N

CRANK 2 - Nonononono. The first is a guilt pleasure on mine. Too perfect of an ending to keep it going. This movie does not exsist.

4/1

Wolverine

Meh. Something about, didn't we get the point with X2.

4/8

Star Trek

Raised by Trekkers, I can not not see this. Hardwired in my DNA. Dance Monkey Dance.

more later, I've spent an hour on this.

MER' CRIMUH!

Yo all you nutty nutz! Mer Crimuh!

Lots of sugar highChristmas photos stored up to unleash on you, just not now, not uploaded yet, it's a major investment in time to sort store and share, who has the time, but I'll get around to it in the name of complete disclosure.

If loven BROM is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Man, his interviews make you want to smack him though. That's right, SMACK HIM. Smack the manscara right off his bony face. I'm talk'n to you!. Brang it Brom, braaang it. (love/hate/love/hate/bipolar/disorderlies/fatboys/crushgroove/beat street the real deal/the right stuff/phillip kaufman/san fran snob directors/chip on shoulder/hate hate kill kill/just don't get me on The Crow remake/ F'n F'rs need to back the F F'n off)

Who's your pony? That's right, it's me. (Outsider/emilio/maximum overdrive/green goblin/defoe stole that from bruce campbell/condensed soup doesn't like to be talked to like that)

Got a new toy this year, a little camcorder that fits in the ol' flannel shirt pocket (hardcore 94). Shoots HD and I plan on using it to shoot Clown Versus Monkey. There will be no pretense on turning this into a "real movie". It's a stream of product and something that I can't believe hasn't already been done 1,000,000 times. It's all about Clowns being the subject of agazzillion flicks as are monkeys. They are the mainstays of poverty row DIY horror films. WHY?!? People love that shit! Sop it up with a biscuit! Time for them to face off. It will be shown in installments and making of blogs, t-shirts, breakfast serials, and if you want to see the wet stuff without the censor bars, you can buy the hard core uncut stolen back from the man edition.

09 is already busy as hell, but that will give me time to conceptualize and clear out the script backlog. But maybe something will start. You only have to shoot seven minutes of actual footage a month to have a feature length something by the end of the year. And CVM is a total mask movie. Everyone in a mask. So if you can't show, someone else goes in the suit. And all elements shot separately. Fit together without any regard to how it would really look. representational rather then realistic. Not enough Talk talk, blah blah.

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself help center | e-mail options | report spam

SamDrog2000 has shared a video with you on YouTube:

Yes yes yes!!!
Well the title pretty much sums up the action here, with the unfortunate deceased being converted by a pair of reprobates into product for the Lotus Cat Food Company. The tainted food then drives the cats that eat it batshit crazy with a bloodlust for human flesh. It's a your textbook vicious circle, man. "Grinders" - directed by one man schlock movie factory Ted V. Mikels - was part of a famous schock triple bill with "The Embalmer" (1965) and "The Undertaker and His Pals" (1966) that played the country's grindhouse and drive-in theaters back in the early 1970's. You gotta fucking love the voiceover narrator in the trailer: "Do you know what this is? IT'S A CORPSE GRINDING MACHINE!"

Stare it Down

Nothing can crush you

With face on floor

Nails jutting upward

Clawing

The wall leaving streaks

In plaster as boots

Stomp you

To the rocks below

You hit and break

The hold and eyes

Blink out blood

To see a face

In silhouette

The oppressor

Flinches with fear

From your steady stare

Blinding binds and boots

Crumble to sand

Stand and stare

With drowning light

Unblinking eyes

Wordless mouth

Hour after hour

Round after round

Stare it down

Stare it down

Stare it down

weekend and 09

Today I am rock’n both jobs then going home and chill’n with the Stephinator,  prob watching a horror flick, then up early and getting the kids breakfast until steph wakes up and then taking a nap, then up and playing with the kids, registring for classes, try to excersise, write shatter monkey stuff, talk to Jayson about some idea, see what’s up with Mike, plan a playdate, get Steph’s present, work present, go to work at 7pm, and that night maybe drink coffee with a friend and talk about horror flicks, then on Sunday I will research the QC report some more, and do very little other then Shatter Monkey stuff.

I have some new stuff coming up, and a project to shoot in 09 that will be very experimental, something I think will be a lot of fun, and then I am going back to school for a nine month certificate in web design because I want to learn how to distribute my stuff to its maximum potential. Zombeak has really shown me that distribution is in the hands of the filmmaker now, and in five years when I have another project finished, there will be even more outlets and I want to be a bad assed web designing mofo that knows all the ends and outs of internet marketing. What I’ve learned from the chicken flick was great to see how it has been done, but the world has changed, I would love to be able to help other filmmakers create and maximise their sites to get their films out there. I despise asking permission from faceless people on the phone to support my film. Web Design: also to do freelance and make better bank. I’ve gotz mouths to feed.

2009 is going to be busy, good.

SHAMO

The whole point of shatter monkey is that the scenes never end.

While Zombeak is in a big hurry to finish, SM will take its time and I want the audience to seep in the scenes.

I picture a tea bag that just slowly clouds the water then darkens the water then overpowers it.

I picture about 8 set pieces; I want a set piece movie like DePalma, prolonged sense of visual story telling.

When you feel like the scene should end, it just keeps going and going and getting worse and worse.

The bad thing about movies is they make every hardship a 30 second montage followed by quick redemption.

The thing about real tragedy is its numbing indifferent presence that lingers and drains you. You wake up it is there until it tucks you away to bed. It is dealt with over long periods. No magic pills.

That’s what I want to convey in the film, the unblinking presence of horror. HA! DAMN the view inside my butt is GREAT today!
